SABC01: Pump Up Your Training Skills (Day 2), presented by Guila Muir, Guila Muir and Associates LLC
THIS IS A TWO DAY SESSION. YOU ARE EXPECTED TO ATTEND BOTH DAYS. PLEASE REGISTER FOR FABC01 ON FRIDAY WA State Early Learning Core Competency: Professional Development and Leadership Who Should Attend: Adult Educators | Interested Professionals; This is the same workshop presented at WAEYC 2015. Particpants are welcome to attend it again but the content will be very similar to the 2015 workshop. This session has a $15 materials fee. All participants will receive the text Instructional Design That Soars: Shaping What You Know Into Classes That Inspire, as well as an approximately 25-page Participant Manual that you will use as a workbook during the session, and as an important reference after the session.
SABC02: Early Mathematics: Counting and Cardinality, presented by Jamie Ashton and Charlotte Zissel, Child Care Aware/Opportunity Council
Counting and cardinality is more than doing the calendar! In this early learning numeracy training developed by OSPI, teachers of preschool and kindergarten children will explore developmental learning pathways young children progress through in their understanding of counting and cardinality; engage in activities that develop richer experiences and understanding of counting and cardinality; and develop strategies for incorporating counting activities into classroom routines. About the presenter: Jamie holds a master’s degree in Education and a teaching certificate in K-12 education. Before joining Child Care Aware of Northwest Washington at the Opportunity Council in the Spring of 2014, she spent more than 20 years as a teacher and administrator in early learning programs and schools in Whatcom County, leading one program through NAEYC Accreditation. She is passionate about supporting teachers and administrators to be reflective learners and am committed to furthering the early childhood education field through volunteer leadership roles with Washington Association for the Education of Young Children (WAEYC) and National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).
